Coach Spotlight: Dave Krueger

Dave Krueger is the current Mountain West Hurdles coach, and will be entering his 2nd year as the Big Sky High School Hurdles coach as well.

Dave won State his Junior and Senior year of High School at Carson City High School in Nevada, going undefeated both years and a personal best time of 14.2 seconds. Dave received several offers to run track in college, but decided to pursue Football in Utah, as he had won All-State honors for both offense and defense 2 years in a row, and was awarded the Nevada Gatorade player of the year in 1999.

After college, Dave and his High School sweetheart, Denise moved to Missoula in 2002. Dave became a Missoula Police Officer in 2003 and was there for 10 years, spending his last several years in Detectives. Dave and Denise currently own and operate Montana Family Mortgage in Missoula, and also run the 501c3 non-profit Heroes 4 Kids that awards scholarships to local student-athletes to help offset costs for sports, sports related fees, and tutoring.

In addition, Dave and Denise run a personal and business coaching company called Passion by Choice. Within this business they provide weekly podcasts that focus on positivity and mindset. They are also sought after Keynote speakers that often speak about life’s challenges and how to maintain positivity, stay present in daily life, and how to live with passion in everything you do.
Dave’s favorite part of coaching is being able to provide sound tactics and techniques to help each individual athlete improve year-over-year. Along with the athletic coaching, Dave aims to set a positive example to all of his student athletes and always focus on being a positive, dependable person on and off the track.
